Jetson Home, the company behind the Jetson Air heat pump, now sells two more pieces of the house: Jetson Water, a heat pump water heater, and Jetson Charge, a 48-amp Level 2 EV charger with an energy monitor that clips into your electrical panel. Reservations opened October 27, 2026, with a $50 refundable deposit, and installs start in early 2027. Both run from the same app as Jetson Air, and you can buy either one on its own.
The charger is the more interesting half if you live in an older house. Its monitor watches everything else on the panel, and the charger is designed to slow down when the dryer, oven and AC are all going at once, which is how Jetson says many homes with 100-amp service can add one without a panel upgrade.
I haven’t had either one installed. This is built from Jetson’s launch announcement, its product pages and FAQs (read November 3), its list of service areas, ENERGY STAR’s guidance on heat pump water heaters, and current Amazon prices for chargers you can buy and install now.
Key Takeaways
- Jetson Charge is a Level 2 charger at 11.5 kW (48 amps, hardwired) with a NACS plug, adding up to 44 miles of range per hour. A J1772 adapter is an optional add-on.
- An included whole-home energy monitor lets the charger adjust its speed as household demand changes, where local code permits.
- It can work on many 100-amp panels and up, after Jetson reviews your electrical system.
- Jetson Water comes in 50, 65 and 80 gallons, carries a UEF of up to 4.00 (NEEA Tier 4) and uses about 75% less energy than a standard electric tank.
- No public prices. Jetson quotes by address and applies eligible rebates upfront. Both products carry 10 years of Jetson Care coverage.
- Jetson installs in parts of California, Colorado, Massachusetts, New York, Tennessee, Maryland and the D.C. area, plus Vancouver.
- The federal tax credits for heat pump water heaters and home chargers are gone for anything installed now; state and utility rebates are what’s left.
- Outside those areas, the Emporia Pro with PowerSmart ($599 on Amazon) pairs a 48-amp charger with a panel monitor in the same way.
Jetson Charge: A Charger That Watches Your Panel

An EV is the biggest single load most houses will ever see. A 48-amp charger running overnight on top of a dryer, an electric range and central air is exactly the math that makes an electrician recommend a 200-amp panel, and a panel upgrade “can cost thousands of dollars,” in Jetson’s words. Our guide to how your electrical panel limits what you can install walks through why that number climbs.
Jetson Charge’s answer is a monitor that sits in the panel and measures all the power the house is using. When other equipment kicks on, the charger is designed to throttle back, then speed up again when the load drops. That’s called load management, and it isn’t new; standalone chargers from Emporia and others do something similar. What Jetson adds is having one crew assess the panel, pull the permit and install both pieces, with the charger, the water heater and the heat pump all reporting to one app.
Two caveats before you plan around it. Jetson’s own wording is careful: the system is “designed to” adjust and works “where local code permits,” and compatibility with a 100-amp panel is “subject to a review of your home’s electrical system.” One Canadian trade outlet reported the automatic load balancing as a feature still on the way, with no date given. If your panel is tight, get that answer in writing on your quote.
The specs
It charges at up to 11.5 kW (48 amps) when hardwired, which Jetson rates at up to 44 miles of range per hour. The cable ends in a NACS connector, the Tesla-style plug most automakers are moving to, and an adapter for older J1772 cars costs extra. The case is rated for indoor or outdoor mounting from -22°F to 122°F, and it shuts itself off when it senses a fault or surge, then sends an alert. In the app you can start, stop and schedule charging, so the car fills up overnight on cheaper electricity and is ready by 7 a.m. for school drop-off.

How Charging at Home Affects Your EV Battery
There’s a second reason to care about a home charger beyond convenience. How you charge has a measurable effect on how long the battery keeps its range. Telematics company Geotab studied 22,700 EVs and found the average battery still held 81.6% of its capacity after eight years, and charging habits moved that rate more than almost anything else an owner controls. Cars charged mostly at home lost about 1.5% a year. Cars that lived on high-power DC fast chargers above 100 kW lost up to 3.0% a year, which works out to roughly 76% capacity at the eight-year mark.
A Level 2 charger in the garage is the slow, steady kind of charging that sits at the gentle end of that range. Occasional fast charging on a road trip barely registered in the data, so there’s no need to avoid the highway fast charger on the drive to Grandma’s. If you’re shopping for a used EV, The Weekly Driver’s breakdown covers which models held up best and what to ask a seller about how the car was charged.
Jetson Water: A Heat Pump for Your Hot Water
Water heaters tend to get replaced in a hurry, usually the morning the basement floor is wet and nobody has had a hot shower. Jetson is pitching Water at exactly that moment: its own technicians install it in a few hours, and the company handles the permit and rebate paperwork.

A heat pump water heater pulls warmth out of the surrounding air and moves it into the tank instead of heating the water with a gas burner or an electric coil. That’s how Jetson Water gets to about 75% less energy than a standard electric tank and a Uniform Energy Factor of up to 4.00, a NEEA Tier 4 rating. It comes in 50, 65 and 80 gallons and has four modes you can switch between from the tank or the app: heat pump, economy, hybrid and e-heater (the plain electric element, for when the whole family showers back to back). The heat pump works down to 37°F, and the electric backup keeps going to 5°F.
There’s also a CTA-2045 demand-response port, which lets the tank heat up when power is cheaper on utility programs that use it, plus vacation mode and alerts for water pooling near the tank. Leak detection requires a Jetson Care plan.
Check your space first. Any heat pump water heater needs room to breathe. ENERGY STAR recommends a spot that stays between 40°F and 90°F, and its 2024 installation guide says most standard 240-volt models need at least 700 cubic feet of air around the tank (a 10-by-10-foot room with a 7-foot ceiling), with some models getting by on 450. Because the unit pulls heat from the room, it also cools the space around it, which is a bonus in a hot garage and a drawback in a finished basement you’re already struggling to keep warm. A tank in a closet can still work with a fully louvered door, if the closet itself is at least 84 cubic feet.

What Jetson Costs, and the Tax Credits That Ended
Jetson doesn’t publish prices for either product. You enter your address, answer a few questions and upload photos, and the quote covers the equipment, installation, permits and rebate paperwork. Extra electrical work, such as a panel upgrade, shows up as a separate line before you commit. The $50 deposit is credited toward the product and refundable any time before installation.
Both products come with 10 years of Jetson Care coverage, according to the launch announcement, though the product pages still say full warranty details are “coming soon.” Read that fine print before you sign.
Don’t count on federal money. The Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit, which used to cover 30% of a heat pump water heater up to $2,000, ended for anything placed in service after December 31, 2025. The credit for home EV chargers ended after June 30, 2026. Since Jetson installs start in 2027, neither applies. What remains are state, local and utility rebates, which vary a lot by ZIP code; Jetson says it finds the ones you qualify for and takes them off the price upfront.
Where Jetson Installs

Jetson uses its own crews rather than local contractors, so it only sells where it has a branch. As of November 3, 2026, those are:
- California: Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, Sacramento and San Jose
- Colorado: Denver Metro, Colorado Springs and Northern Colorado
- Massachusetts: Greater Boston
- New York: Westchester and the Hudson Valley
- Tennessee: Nashville, added in October 2026
- Maryland and the D.C. area: served from Hyattsville, covering Baltimore, Columbia and the Washington suburbs
- Canada: Vancouver and the Lower Mainland
Jetson’s quote page will tell you if your address is covered.

Not in a Jetson City? What to Buy Instead
You can put together most of what Jetson Charge does yourself, with an electrician you hire.
- The closest match: the Emporia Pro Level 2 Charger with PowerSmart, $599. It’s a 48-amp charger bundled with an Emporia Vue panel monitor, and PowerSmart balances charging against the rest of the house so you can charge on an existing panel. It has a J1772 plug, so a newer car with a NACS port needs an adapter.
- A Tesla or other NACS car, panel to spare: the Emporia Level 2 Charger with NACS, $479, 48 amps hardwired with a 25-foot cable. Its listing doesn’t include the PowerSmart monitor, so plan on a circuit sized for it.
- A charger on a big public network: the ChargePoint HomeFlex NACS, $527.26, hardwired. The same ChargePoint app finds public stations on road trips.
- Both plugs on one charger: the Tesla Universal Wall Connector, $922.91 on Amazon, has a built-in adapter for NACS and J1772 cars, up to 48 amps with a 24-foot cable. Handy if your household has one of each.
- Before you call an electrician: the Emporia Vue 3 energy monitor with 16 circuit sensors, $199.99, shows what each circuit in your panel actually draws. A few weeks of real numbers make the “do I need a 200-amp panel” conversation a lot more concrete. The whole-home version without circuit sensors is $99.99.
- For any water heater, old or new: a GoveeLife Wi-Fi water leak detector three-pack, $43.99, does the job of Jetson’s leak alerts without a subscription. Put one under the tank, one under the washer and one under the kitchen sink.
Whatever charger you buy, have a licensed electrician install it, pull the permit and do a load calculation first. That’s the part Jetson bundles in.
